Hi, Ive got an 82 chev c10 that Im putting airbags in on all corners, and am at the point where I need to figure out the rear, for space reasons I want to run the rear bags on brackets on the back side of the diff, inside the chassis rails with the top bag mount attached to the notch itself. SO this means the weight bearing is done behind the notch where Ive cut the original chassis rails to install the notch. Are there any particluar rules about this, Ive been unable to find anything in the hobby car manual.
Thanks

Hi
The c-notching of the rear chassis rails shouldn't weaken the frame at all if it's done correctly, and if the information available in the Hobby Car Technical Manual is followed. Generally the chassis would be 'boxed' or otherwise strengthened to reinstate the chassis strength and rigidity.
It's pretty tricky to give exact advise without actually seeing the vehicle, but it would be a good idea to fit a cross-member to the chassis at the c-notch. This could also incorporate the air bag mounts, and would help to spread the load between the two chassis rails.
It would also be a good idea to engage an LVV Certifier early on in this process.
I hope this helps.
