Hi
I've got an LS1 into VS Commodore conversion that's going for certification soon, and I'm having a lot of trouble with the engine check light. It's meant to run through the body-control-module, but I don't have one of those - I've retained the factory ECU and run everything off that (it's a motorsport-oriented conversion, so it didn't seem necessary). There doesn't appear to be any way at all for me to get the engine check light going with my current setup.
My question is regarding the following section in the emissions standard:
2.4(3) A low volume vehicle that, as a result of the installation of an aftermarket fuel injection system or an aftermarket programmable electronic control unit, has had any of the engine manufacturer’s components specified in 2.4(1) removed, must be provided with alternative equipment capable of achieving satisfactory air quality emissions over a range of operating loads and inlet air temperatures.
What exactly does "alternative equipment" mean, and could this apply even though I've got the standard ECU for that engine? Is there anything I can do that means I don't have to run an engine check light?
Any assistance would be hugely appreciated. cheers heaps Brian

Hrrrmmmmm, okay. Hi Brian, can you fire us some more info about this, to tech@lvvta.org.nz Also, I'm guessing you're the Brian whose LS VS motorsport car I looked at the other week. If so, hope your test day on the track went well
