Hi all, I'm wanting to mount a lightbar on the roof of my ute, I have purchased some custom brackets from aus that requires 3x 8.5mm holes to be drilled into both a pillars, the holes are then fitted with rivnuts and brackets are bolted on, seen heaps in aus but I have only seen one other vehicle in nz with the same set up, but would like to make sure this is legal before I go drilling holes in my ute Here a link so you know what I'm taking about m.facebook.com/bullseyeproducts4x4camping/photos/pcb.1064791646920646/1064791446920666/?type=3&source=48&refid=52Cheers any help appreciated

Good morning. Drilling the holes is unlikely to be an issue, but check with your WOF inspector before fitment. Similar modifications are frequently done for the fitting of a snorkel, and the effect on the structural integrity of the a-pillar is likely to be very slight. Do check that your lightbar is going to be legal, if it is something you're intending to use while the vehicle is on the road. There doesn't seem to be a lot said about LED light bars from NZTA. It might be something that is only legal off-road, so will need to be disabled at WOF time. vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/lighting
