We recently purchased an Evo 5 that has an adjustable brake bias control in the cabin, with braided lines running to it. Have been told this is not certifiable, but are not sure why. Clarification would be much appreciated so that we can move forward and get it on the road asap.
Thanks in advance

Hi Krissy,
Do you have any photos showing what is fitted to your car?
Have you taken the car to a certifier yet?
Also, last question, is this a race/rally car with a Motorsport NZ Authority Card?

Yes, the car has been to a certifier but we weren't provided with an explanation as to why the braided lines are not allowed. It's no problem for us to put a lockable cover over the control but replacing perfectly good lines is a fair bit of a nuisance! The car was used for racing by the previous owner. We will probably do so later on down the track too but for now would like it to be road legal.

Hi Krissy, One of our requirements is to minimise the amount of braided line fitted, as it is more difficult to inspect than solid line (in the sense that braided line can hide its internal deterioration with the braiding. So in our braking standard, it states Which is why I asked the Authority Card question earlier. www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/standards/LVVTA_STD_Braking_Systems.pdfPage #12

Thanks for that Leon, we'll just go ahead and get the Authority Card sooner instead of later!
