G'day, I have an old superbell style 4" drop tube axle. The style where the 4" dropped ends are cast steel and welded into the tube"smile". I think this axle is an old Pete Dore made axle. Is this axle allowed for cert?

Hi Steve, I wouldn't be very optimistic about this.
Can you fire some info, and a bunch of photos of the axle to me?

Thanks Leon, I don't think I will put too much effort into this axle. I am just mocking up a chassis as a roller to sell and was just trying to decide which axle to keep and which to put under the chassis. I do have a dropped 34 axle and although this axle has less drop, I would rather keep the dropped original axle. Your answer has just made the decision for me.......

What is your other axle? Just in case there's an issue with that, which we can advise of ahead of time.
As you mention that the other axle you have, has been dropped, I'm just concerned that it might fall foul of the following clause in the NZ Car Construction Manual
If you've got a manual, you'll find the full wording in the suspension chapter, 6.8.2
On a bit of a side-note. If you buy an aftermarket cast axle, such as a Superbell or Magnum, we need to test them, which currently costs $92, plus the courier to and from us.
Whilst if you buy a forged dropped axle (with receipt to show that is forged), we don't need to test them. Which means it saves you $92 + two lots of courier charges.
