Hi
I've got an ACR30 Toyota Estima that has an ELR lap only belt in the middle of the middle row of seats. Since you can't use this belt type with child seats I'd like to swap it for a static/manual lap belt, bolting it up to the existing anchorages. Can anyone advise if this requires a low volume cert or is below the threshold?
Thanks Simon

Hi Simon LVV certification is not required provided that the new belt meets an approved standard and the anchorages/vehicle structure are not altered. This may not be the case with other types of belt, but with lap belts NZTA's Rule does not distinguish between the types so it is ok. Fyi these are common standards from the approved list: Australian Standard/New Zealand Standard 2596 Australian Design Rule 4 Seat Belts Japanese Industrial Standard D 4604 The full list is available hereAny belt you buy for automotive use should meet one of the approved standards, beware belts designed only for industrial machinery such as forklifts.
