Hi. Is it OK to relocate the airbag module?
I have a 1997 Estima and have removed the lower centre console to create more leg room for easier access. The airbag module is located under the plastic shell, on a small subframe/bracket bolted to the chassis floor with large torx bolts.
I was planning on simply unbolting it and rotating around to the firewall area or further forwards o the floor (I wouldn’t even need to unplug anything to do this). I have two questions:
Are there any sensors in the control module that are sensitive to orientation?
What are the mounting requirements? I have some quality double-sides tape that will probably never fail, but something tells me that’s not going to be legit. I could modify the existing steel subframe/bracket to work.
Any advice welcome.
Cheers, Justin.

Hi Justin,
This is likely vehicle dependent, as some modules have G-sensors in them, and some don't. Our advice would be to consult your Toyota dealer to find out their view on it, as they should know what the module does/how it works.
Being a 1997 vehicle, you can legally disable the airbag system in it, which may be another option for you.
Hope this helps.
