Hi,
My son is looking at a ute that has been certified for 3 inch lowering blocks. Not surprisingly the ride is awful and I am suggesting that if he buys it then he will need to change the blocks for 1.5 or 2 inch ones.
If he does that will it require a recert?
Thanks for your help.
Cheers

The height of the blocks themselves is not recorded on the cert plate, however the overall ride height is.
Legally the height of the vehicle should match the height stated on the plate. So in this instance, it should be re-certed, or, if the vehicle has no other modifications, you could bring it back to being under the certification threshold, and have the certification on the vehicle removed (a certifier will need to do remove the plate and do the paperwork). Two inch blocks are ok under threshold, so this could be a good solution.
It may be also be worth checking that the shocks aren't bottoming out prematurely, before the bump stops are being hit, as this can be a cause for an uncomfortable ride.
Hope that helps.
