Looking at getting SPC brand front upper and lower control arms for a 67 Pontiac GTO. Uppers are adjustable. Wanting to know if anyone has used them and had them certified before purchasing.

Hi Shane,
Do you have a link to them? We don't tend to keep records of all the brands of parts used on each vehicle, but we'll have a look for you.

Hi Shane, these have been discussed at Tech Working Group, and due to the multitude of parts they are made-up from, it's been suggested that they would need to go through design approval. A more traditional arm however would not, so this may be an option for you. if you do with to go through the design approval process, you can find information on that here: www.lvvta.org.nz/approvals.html#designHope that helps.

Hi Todd, thanks for the feed back woundering if you could elaborate on where any concerns are. If we go down the design path reading from the manual I would need to supply info on all front suspension parts including those already on the car (bakes spindles tie rods) is that correct. Cheers Shane

I believe it's the complexity and unusual design of the arms, as they have various loaded threads etc. Other people have been asking the same question of these types of arms, so it's becoming more common, but currently none have been processed through Design Approval, so we're unable to give any feedback if they may or may not pass or what the comments may be. Sorry.

Putting my 2c in here.. to me it looks like those arms pictured (with pivolt bolts) could never have their geometry reliably fixed. Eg, the ball joint plate can actually pivot around the pivot bolts and change its angle in relation to the threade cross shaft.

That's certainly something the TAC guys would be taking into account.
