I’m looking at a Datsun 620 ute that has been imported from Australia. Unfortunately the owner doesn’t have the required paperwork for the vehicle. However I have discovered that a Datsun 720 ute uses the same chassis and running gear. If I purchased a registered 720 could I swap the 620 body onto its chassis?

Hi Dion Before LVVTA can deal with any vehicle as a low volume vehicle, it must first have either met NZTA's entry requirements (which you can find on their website) which in your case, with no paperwork may involve going through the alternative docs process, or it would need to be certified as a scratch-built vehicle. From a technical viewpoint, any body can be modified to fit on a chassis, but whether it can be certified as a modified production or scratch built vehicle is dependant on above. Chris
