Hi , just wondering if this type disc caliber bracket is ok to use for '62 Chev , those tabs at the top are tig welded both sides , thanks Larry Hi Larry All welding incorporated in braking system attachment, modification, or adaptation within a low volume vehicle, must meet all requirements specified in 18.9 'critical function welding requirements’ in ‘Chapter 18 - Attachment Systems’ of the Car Construction Manual. To purchase the Car Construction Manual, head to this site here - www.lvvta.org.nz/shop/Effectively the answer is that any critical function weld must be NDT'd, the CCM will describe the requirements for that in more detail. Cheers Chris

Is NDT non destructive testing? Yes NDT is Non Destructive Testing, however not all NDT's are the same, the test must meet a particular acceptance criteria that we have agreed to. So you do not risk getting the wrong test done and having to test them twice, I recommend you catch up with your certifier and ask them for an F008, Non-Destructive - Test Request Form. This form clearly lays out the test criteria which the component must be tested to and also the acceptance criteria it must meet. You will receive a report from the test lab which you will need to present to your certifier. Hopefully that helps. Chris

cool thanks, you wouldnt have a ball park cost of the NDT ? We are not normally given that level of detail but as a very rough indication it might be $100 a component might be less, might be more. Best to ring an NDT Lab to be sure, we have worked with Metlab a lot metlab.co.nz/Regards Chris
