I'm looking into re registering one of my cars that i've had sitting around for a while One of the details with , the pace that holds car records, is not correct. they say the chassie number of my car is 4910037679 when really its Y910037679. Does anyone know if there is a way i can get them to change there records? the problem is that at the moment the car is only a rolling shell so their is no way to prove that my car is the car that they have on record, and they have made a mistake. And as the car was stolen and recovered, i have no written proof of ownership. This is Obviously a mistake at there end as there is no such thing as a 4910**etc bluebird all bluebirds of this shape have a letter at the start of their chassie code for example P910, Y910 N910 etc. here is a link to it in car jam www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=oe6090don't worry that it looks rough in the picture, i have have a couple of cars worth of the important parts. cheers -Mike

Hi Mike
I'm not sure of the answer here. I suggest that to get the ball rolling you contact a TSDA (VTNZ, AA, VINZ etc) and discuss it with somebody there; otherwise you could contact NZTA, who may be able to go back through all of the records for this car and locate the error. Being a 2 door it's likely to be a Japanese import, so there may be some documentation still available on file from it's importation.
Cheers, Justin
