Have been advised there has been a change to the rules around maximum rim sizes for specific tyre widths. My understanding was previously the manufacturers specified range of rim size applied, but this has now been replaced by some specified maximums. My tyres for example are a 245/35 17 on the rear with a manufaturers recommendation of 8" to 9.5" rims. I am running a 9" rim so within this range, fronts are 205/40 17 on an 8" rim (recommended 6" to 8"). Can you advise if limits have been brought in to override the manufacturers recommendations and if so what the limits are? If they have I presume it is to stop some of the crazy stretching of tyres that was going on, even though most wouldn't have met the manufacturers limits anyway.

We have collated data from tyre manufacturers to create a summary chart - this is a guide and is not intended to exclude other manufacturer's recommendations so if you stay within those it should be fine.
Our information from Goodyear stacks up with yours so will be acceptable to the certifier.
