Hi there,
I was hoping you could provide some guidance on using ball joint spacer kits to lift the IFS front suspension on an LN130 Toyota Hilux Surf. Looking through the LVVTA Threshold guides, I can't find anything on lifting vehicles, only lowering them. However I figure the same guidance still applies (CV angles, ball joint binding, wheel rubbing etc).
I've purchased a ball joint spacer kit out of the USA to raise my Hilux Surf front suspension about 75mm to accommodate 35" tyres. The kit seems to be of much higher quality than the ones found on Trademe, The spacers are CNC machined from blocks of T6061 billet aluminium and use Grade 8 steel bolts. I realise that the modification will likely require certification, but I want to know whether or not the modification is likely to get certification. Using the spacer kit it allows me to lift the front of my truck without winding up the torsion springs too much, and the other spacer components that come with it allow me to keep the diff/CV joint and sway bar geometry nearer to the factory angles.
Can you advise on whether or not such a kit is likely to be legal for road use in NZ?

There are many kits similar to what you've described available.
