I have a 1957 Morris minor that has been slightly modified for power and has a non original steering column made up of a Ford Laser lower arm with a Morris Marina upper and controls with a universal between to the original rack. This is Certified and is as I purchased it. My question is, if I replace this with an original Minor column with the Marina washer/indicator unit attached to the Minor outer column, will I need to have this recertified even though it is the original design column, or will the fact that the Marina control unit is not original be the cause for recertification ?. My reason for changing is that the original builder was around 6'5", and I think needed this bend in the column for leg room, and at 5'9" I don't. Your thoughts please

Good morning,
You'll go in to see a certifier for what we call a partial return to standard.
He will do an inspection to ensure that all is well with your replaced column. Submit paperwork to us, and we will engrave a new plate with the modified column removed from it (I am assuming that something about a modified column is on your plate now).
So you'd be paying for some of the certifier's time, and a plate reprint fee. Not a full re-cert.
