I'm currently looking into the idea of building a off-road campervan. My idea is to take a 1994 Toyota Dyna Van and fit it out as a camper then later convert it to 4WD using land cruiser axles and transfer case. But I have a few questions before I get too carried away with the idea:
1. Provided the diffs are the correct length can I just change the mounting points where they attach to the leaf springs to fit the van leaf springs?
2.Can the front and rear diffs be mounted under the springs rather than on top?
3.These vans have quite a high GVM and require a COF, if I change to land cruiser axles can the vans GVM be changed to allow WOF?
4. I like the idea of a "rock n roll" seat in the back similar to what was used in VW vans, so that the rear seat folds down to become part of the bed. Is it possible to make these legal for passengers with seatbelts? Can I build my own?
Thanks in advance.

We don't have any authority here sorry, if it's on a COF, it's a heavy vehicle so is under the legal authority of a Heavy Vehicle Certifier (contact your local COF agency for a list of local Heavy engineers).
As for de-rating a vehicle from a Heavy to a Light, you'd need to contact NZTA, as that's their jurisdiction.
