hi there i have a datsun 1200 ute with a 510 datsun irs fitted in the back looking at getting it legal this year but have struggled to get a certifier to help out with info i just want someone to have a look basically even at my expense just run into a few problems that the technical guide doesnt quite go into enough depth about so i have reached out on her to hopefully find/get the info i need.... basically its just the mounting of my shocks everything is mounted in well drives etc. i have taken the old mount off the a arm and extended it out to get past the chassis to avoid chopping it out/moving it. ( unless its possible to do so i will cut it out since its a uni-body) would this be ok to weld to the a-arm is all heavy 6mm iv over done everything on it to insure its strength. this is what it looks like at the moment. have been thinking about making a new top mount to go up higher and then put dubler plates on the wheel arch for strength and minking it link from the wheel arch to about where the other ones are now.

Hi Anton,
I think you need to find a certifier before you carry on with your mods.
The bottom coilover mounting point is on a big cantilever as you have it at the moment, as that mounting point would normally be very close to the hub, rather than where you have it now.
With shock mounts, I can't quite see what you've done from the photos, but you'd be wanting to have the shock mount re-enforcement spanning the full vertical and horizontal height of the crossmember.
Where are you based? We can try to put you in touch with somebody to give some guidance.
Maybe fire an email to tech@lvvta.org.nz
