Searched forum but can't find an exact answer. I have a couple of questions on the cert process. q1 How does one determine the percentage of original chassis remaining after it has been modified? Is there a formula or is it at the certifier's discretion. q2 I have had 2 bare chassis inspections already done. I have been instructed to carry on and fully assemble and paint everything and get the vehicle (model A) to a completed stage for final inspection. Should I have any documentation to record what has been done? I have paid for both inspections. Thanks.

Hi jimbo The current scratchbuilt definition (that's the name of the document which determines the amount of chassis/body required for the vehicle to remain a modified production vehicle) lives within the NZ Land Transport Rules 'definitions' here www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/results.html?catid=2. This definition is in the process of being changed - I suggest that you talk to your certifier, and have him call us for details. When your certifier has done his chassis inspections, he will have made notes and taken details on his 'formsets'. He will also have detailed the dates etc, so you shouldn't have any problems. You can check this with your certifier to make sure. I hope this helps, Justin
