iv got a 2007 double cab 2wd hilux
its currently on 22" mags, im been thinking bout lowering it about 5inchs or replacing the suspension with air bag suspension.
now i have a few questions, iv heard that because its a new ute and it has srs and frontal impact ect that i cant cutout the front and back inner wheel gaurds and weld in new bigger ones higher up to allow me more clearance, is that the case ? what can i do ?
im wanting to also c notch the back chassis to allow clearance for travel am i able to do this ? what are the requirements for that ?
i need to know before i start cutting the ute up, i talked to a local certifier about this and he told me to ask on here as he wasnt sure about new utes.

Hi Jatt Regarding the inner guards; as this is a full chassis vehicle, it's possible that this modification will be OK, but this needs to be determined by an LVV Certifier - he'll need to assess what affect this might have on the frontal impact system. I recommend doing this before you start. The requirements for chassis modifications including c-notching are all contained in the NZ Hobby Car Technical Manual - you can pick up your copy here; www.hotrod.org.nz/Merchandise%20Page%20Files/Hobby_Car_Technical_Manual.htmI hope this helps.
