Hi, I'm currently having my 1992 GT-R Skyline (4x4) I just imported under Special Interest Certified & Complied and have been told I need a driveshaft loop. A couple of friends with recently LVV certed cars didn't have to have these loops fitted - one a 4x4 Turbo Primera the other another GT-R ( I know of at least 6 others). I can only find reference to f ront engine rwd cars here: www.lvvta.org.nz/stdEngine&Drive-trainConversions.pdfI'm happy to fit a loop for safety's sake and it does produce over 500bhp so is well above factory power/torque but not if it means making holes in the floorpan of my car as it's in a particularly high standard original condition so do I have to fit the loop even if it means making holes in the old beast? thanks Andy

The driveshaft safety loop isn't required in all cases, it depends on the extent of the modifications which have been done.
A four wheel drive vehicle drives the rear wheels, so fits into 'front engine rwd' category.
The safety loop needs to be attached to a suitable part of the vehicle's structure - generally in a unibody vehicle the floorpan is the only practical option. You could ask around a Skyline forum or club to check out what others have done - this may give you some options.
