I would like to know why front indicators have to be visible 45deg out to ward the other side of the vehicle. ie the left indicator visilbe 45deg out to the right front of the vehicle.
For the options that look good on a fenderless beam axled hotrod with frame horns this is near impossible to meet the 45deg view. about the only place to position them is on the tips of the frame horns DANM UGLY!
I have looked at lots of modern and very new vehicles and the positoning of the indicators inside the head lights and to the side of them means they wouldnt meet this viewing angle required in the HCTM.
I also think in a practical situation on the road it is totally unnessasary to see some ones left indicator so far out to the right of the vehicle-think two cars sitting oppersite each other at an intersetion both wanting to turn into the same side road-think of the view angles involved.
I think this requirement should be relaxed and then reset to about 10-15deg for the "inboard" viewing angle.

Hi coopdevil
I can't personally comment on the current requirements as they were developed some time ago, however my understanding is that they were derived from international standards, but 'softened' to suit our needs, thereby making them more achievable on the various scratch-built and modified vehicles you've mentioned.
Your comments and suggestions certainly seem feasible on the face of it - I'll add them to the amendment file for the LVV Standard & HCTM so that they can be considered at the next amendment opportunity.
Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated!
Justin

Hey coopdevil
Sorry, but this hasn't come up for review yet. The info is still there in the file though, so you can be sure that it won't be forgotten.
Thanks, Justin
