A few years back i fitted a whiteline rear swaybar to my starlet and it required drilling the chassis rails to attach some brackets. A mate has told me recently that i should have crush tubes installed. Is this true?

Hi there.
Your mate is correct!
A crush-tube prevents crushing and collapsing of the chassis or crossmember section, which in turn prevents the fastening system from loosening.
A fastener which attaches structural sections, brackets, or mechanical components to RHS, channel, or tubular chassis rails or cross-members in a low volume vehicle, must pass through a tubular steel reinforcing crush-tube.
I hope this helps

oops didnt see this reply.
What would be the easiest way of installing crush tubes? If i remove the rear bumper i could slide them up inside the chassis rails.
