The title on the home page states: Ask all your technical questions, and we will answer them here. Why state something that clearly isn't true. I've asked 2 questions, with neither being answered, and I see many more. I ask Mr Moderator, what is the point of this forum then? A very disappointed member!

I have to completely agree with you there. I asked a simple question of the regulations on doing C notch. Not a "tell me how I should do this" question, being that I cant afford to buy a hobby car manual right now (it is on my to-do list though), all I got back was complete crap.
I was hoping that this forum would be a help to the modified vehicle community, not a hinder.
I am extremely busy, and do A LOT of custom work, I want to make sure that the jobs I do wont have any worries for certification.
Please guys, I realise you are busy, I would be happy with a quick "copy and paste" of the regulations. Maybe a quick confirmation if I have a question regarding it.
Thanks Ben

Hi mrv8 You are correct - we are VERY busy at the moment. This forum is only a small part of the (free) support that we offer - we also look after 50 certifiers, do telephone and email support for certifiers and members of the public, and we also have actual work to do as well! We are here to help as best we can - however there are often times that we can't answer questions straight away, as we have more pressing tasks to perform. There are also only two of us here, not a team of twenty as some expect. If you need an immediate answer on any issue, this forum probably isn't the ideal solution for you - grab a telephone and give us a call direct on 04 238 4343. Justin

Thanks Ben Hi Ben I certainly don't think that this forum hinders anybody in any way - quite the opposite in fact - we have helped a large number of people with their questions - yourself included. We are more than willing to help; however we're not here to provide a free alternative to you purchasing the HCTM - if you are doing a lot of custom work, then you should already have a copy. Your question regarding c-notching a chassis ( lvvta.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=211&page=1#676 ) was taken over from us by another forum member who happens to be LVV Certifier. The requirements for a c-notch chassis are all in the HCTM - there is too much information for me to try to 'copy and paste'. If you're not sure how to do this mod, I suggest you contact a somebody who does; they will be able to help you with the questions you have. You guys need to understand what we provide this forum for - it's not to teach you how to build or modify a car - it's to help to clarify any technical requirements and questions you might have, and provide help and advice as and when we can. We do try to give answers as quickly as we can, but that just isn't possible sometimes. Justin

"there is too much information for me to try to 'copy and paste'."
Thats pretty much the best answer to my question, too much info to go in depth on a forum, you need to sit a talk with a certifer. Done and dusted.
Much better than "Even the Hobby Car technical manual fails to cover how it should be done." and then talking about a way of doing it, that I had already said I had convinced the owner not to do. Then theres the guy saying I should get my mother to weld it for me (not your fault, but didnt help the situation).
I wasnt trying to get a "free alternative" to buying a HCTM, buying this book is definately on my list to do, but my financial situation isnt allowing me to at this time.
Thank you for answering what I needed to know in the end, I will try to sit down with a certifier as soon as I can, and buy the book once the finances allow.
Cheers Ben
