Hi all, I have a Mitsubishi L200 in the build and am toying with the idea of a tube structure in the front. Not just for aesthetic appeal but it just makes more sense with how much modification is required to the inner gaurds. I have given a certifier a call regarding this mod who is/has been in the minitruck scene in the past and said it is ok but he is not up the qualification where he can cert this type of modification so here I am posting it up for comment.. Questions I have would be: 1/ pipe / tube type or minimum spec? I am generally a person to over do something.. 2/ is it legal or gain certification? All welding is / has been done by a welder that has tigged for about 17 years and failed all of a bout 3 welds of thousands. Any help would be appreciated Cheers

Hi Flinn
Do you have a copy of the Hobby Car Technical Manual?
There is a section which deals with this type of modification, and looking at the pictures you've provided, there may be a few problems - mainly relating to frontal impact requirements.
I suggest you get your hands on a copy of the manual, have a read through the chassis construction and modification section, and give me a call.
