My car has been certified for front bucket seats, I am wanting to fit the original bench seat, the factory floor mounts are still in place, do I require recertification? Also wanting to change the floor shift to column shift. My column has the original manual shift mechanicism in place, can I modify the the shift mechanicism from manual to auto (cable) without certification?

Hi there. If you fit the original bench seat to the original seat mounts, the vehicle won't require re-certification, but it will need to have the data updated on the cert plate. You'll need to see an LVV Certifier to do this; he'll check that it's the OE seat and anchorages, and request and fit a new cert plate. A shifter can be modified without certification, provided that other components aren't affected by the modifications, for example the steering column. Changing from manual to auto may require certification; there is a modification threshold which determines this - click on tables and images, then go down to gearbox substitution. vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof/general/miscellaneous-items/engine-and-transmission
