Hi,
im midway through a project and im just starting to think about whether or not certification will be required for the finished product.
Basically i have a 4x4 1992 Nissan Primera, i have removed the engine and gearbox. From the gear box i have removed the centre diff and solidly welded the spider gears closed so no power will be sent to the front, all will be going out the back. I have then left the front diff in free spinning for balance purposes and welded plates over the holes where the front axles were sealing the gearbox closed. Front axles have been removed. But the outer CVs are still in place to hold all the bearings etc in the front suspension together. All this put together bascially makes a rear wheel drive primera.
Any answers to whether this will need a cert or not would be greatly appreciated and things to look out for would also be good.
Due to costs of certification any ways this could be done so it would not need certifying would be great but ultimately if it has to be done it has to be done id rather it be legal.
Thanks

Hi there.
From what you have described, LVV Certification will be required.
There has recently been an infosheet distributed to all LVV certifiers detailing the requirements for this kind of modification - I recommend you contact an LVV Certifier early on in your project for advice and to arrange to have the car inspected when it's been completed.
A list of LVV Certifiers is available from our website.
Good luck with your project.
Justin
