Replacing Tie Rod ends with Rod Ends, the hobby manual states, Steering Systems 7.28.2 (e) be injected with a high quality flexible lining material such as kevlar; also side note Teflon can swell and extrude, therefore should not be used in this application.
My question is the HCTM referring to older style low quality rod ends, as most premium quality rod ends such as NMB/NHBB and Aurora make precision rod ends for use as steering joints etc with a PFTE which is chemically bonded to the joint and has a fabric backing.
Quote from Aurora Bearing Coy. Teflon Liner: Teflon is a trademark held by Dupont for their material chemically known as PTFE. A teflon liner is a strip of PTFE/fabric composite bonded to the raceway of the part. It provides a self-lubricating surface for the ball to ride on. It should not be confused with virgin PTFE, which has very low compressive strength. A proper liner relies on the fabric component for load bearing capacity, and the PTFE component for lubricity.
Looking at most aftermarket bump steer kits and advice from some bearing companies they recommend a high quality rod end with teflon liner for steering tie rod ends... Seeking clarification on this is the HCTM referring to older style should not be used, as the modern style has a fabric composite (possibly kevlar) backing and the teflon provides the lubrication?
Thanks

Hi Ghibb
These are acceptable in this scenario when a teflon coating is only providing the lubrication and the lining material is made of a non-compressible, high quality flexible material such as Kevlar.
