Hi , I have just imported a 1955 Chev Sedan Delivery . The car has been professionally build in the USA as a pro-Street car. It has a full roll cage fitted. Searching the LVVTA website , says by removing the parts of the cage forward of the main hoop, so that now you're effectively left with a 'roll-bar' as opposed to a 'roll-cage'. means it will pass LVV check . ? Is this correct ? My main reason for not removing the complete roll cage , is that the Dana 60 differential with 4 link has adjustable coil overs, and they are fixed in place with the back of the roll cage . . The main hoop next to the B pillar is in line with the back of the seat . It does not and can not have rear seats as in photo. I do understand that i may have to pad the hoop. Hope you can understand all this ? Thanks Tex

Hi Tex,
Roll-bar or roll cage structures don't require LVV certification providing that - Each seating position is fitted with an effective head restraint; and no rear seating positions exist; and the bars are positioned: behind, following a plane extending upward, parallel to the back of the backrest on the rear-most seat; and in such a way that the head restraint would provide protection from head contact with any bar section during a crash. Basically,if you remove the section of cage from behind the drivers head forward and comply with the above requirements you shouldn't have any issues.

Thanks Rob, I can sort that ok .. But another thing I wanted to know was that if i remove the front bars ,it turns it into a roll bar and not a roll cage . This would same me joining a drag club , going to 3 meetings a year and keeping a log book ? Thanks Gary
