I would like to enquire of the hyd fluid resivoir requirements for a scratch built vehicle. I have used an assembly with under dash hyd master cylinders from a hiace van.In the manual the requirements are to have the fluid resivoirs to each cyl separated-is it permissable to use the resivoir from the donor van which has only one resivoir as such separating only toward the bottom of this to the supply front, rear & clutch master cyl inlet ports so that each of these can't be starved of fluid or must these consist of each of these inlet ports having its own individual supply resivoir?

Hi, The dual-circuit master cylinder fitted to a scratch-built vehicle must operate in such a way that a loss of fluid from one circuit (e.g. the front brakes), will not affect fluid supply to the other circuit (e.g. the rear brakes). A single reservoir is ok providing it has two separate fluid chambers. The brake fluid reservoir must also have a greater hydraulic fluid capacity than the combined total volume of all cylinders operating within the system (including the clutch in your case).
