The Manual says to mount the upper seat belt mounts at an east/west direction. Due to being a Roadster and having a tube frame for mounting this won't work for me. Is welding a gusset in the curve of the hoop ok ? It will put the upper belt tab at a 45 deg horizontal angle. Also are 7/16 nuts ok or does a round boss need to be used ? Thanks

If the upper anchorage is to be mounted to a stand-alone roll bar then there are details in the Hobby Car Technical Manual for how to do it. There will need to be rearward diagonal braces on the roll bar and usually a threaded thick wall tubular boss is welded through the bar to bolt the seatbelt to. This boss is positioned so that the direction of seatbelt pull is not just on the threads, hence the east-west note. It sounds like your 45 degree mount will still be ok but best to confirm with the certifier or send us some sketches.

Thanks Dan- I'm planning on doing the roll bar/seatbelt set up prior to getting the chassis cert sorted. Just so I can finish the bodywork and use the cage to hoist the body. Can I tack up what I had in mind and send some pics through ?
Cheers
