What are the rules surrounding relocating a dry cell battery into the boot of lift back car? Does it require a box like a wet cell battery? Is a cert required? Etc I know Motorsport NZ Schedule A only requires a dry cell to be secured and have a cap over the positive terminal but don’t know the requirements for a road car.

Good morning,
We would follow MotorSport NZ's requirements. So if it's a dry cell, then you wouldn't need a sealed box, unless you have fuel system components in the same compartment as the battery.
At which point, you'd need the fuel and battery separated (by covering / sealing one or the other).
There isn't anything in the VIRM (WoF guide) that specifically states that a relocated battery requires certification.
As far as your attachments of the battery to the car go, typically if you again follow MSNZ rules, that will be satisfactory to a certifier if you end up seeing a certifier for bigger brakes, adjustable suspension etc etc.
