I've been in NZ for about 2 years now and brought over my modified Mk1 Ford Escort from the UK, with the majority of the work completed by professionals (I did the bolt on mods). At the time the company I used for shipping said to ship it across as a non runner as it would be easier and cheaper for me at the NZ end. When asked why this would be the case, I was informed that I would have to have the car delivered to Auckland (rest of shipping came to Napier - we live in Gisborne) and that I would have to collect the car in person and drive it home, where if it was a non runner they could arrange for it to be delivered with the rest of the shipping. As they were the "experts", I took their word for this.
We had to leave UK about 2 months before our shipping did due to work start dates.
I took my time with the car adjusting a few things that I wasn't happy with, then it sat in the shed collecting dust due to life commitments.
Anyway with the lockdown I found myself back looking at the car and spoke to a few friends that I have made over here about it and they have said that it will need a cert and possible a motorsport one as its modified and spouted alot about getting things NDT. I never even thought about any of this.
I suppose my question is, where do I start. The car is fully built (minus battery which is current on back order). Being a UK car, the whole underneath was undersealed to protect from the weather
The engine and gearbox are non standard, it has adjustable coil over front struts and adjustable TCAs
Rear axle is four linked, with panhard rod and turreted coil over shock absorbers.
Vented disc brakes on front and discs on rear
Full roll cage (no door bars)
Bucket seats and harnesses (FIA approved harness mounts)
Lexan Polycarbonate 4mm door windows
There may be other stuff done but can't remember off the top of my head.
Apologies for rambling and thanks for any advice that you can give.
