Just wanting to know which plates I have to have mandatory and which ones I could potentially remove. The car was built in Australia and has the standard ADR plate but it has been painted over by the guy who painted the car in Australia. Do I have to retain this tag? The car also has the NZ Vin plate, NZ Certification plate, Toyota identification plate, dealer stock number and the Australian cert plate as well. I know that the VIN and NZ cert plate have to remain but what about the rest. I will try and get some better pictures tonight but hoping it is a straight forward answer. As a side note, can I have the car inspected and remove the vin tag for painting and have a new one issued? Cert plate is going to be updated so I assume I can again get it looked at by my local certifier and then remove it for painting. Thanks in Advance. Brian.

Hi Bananaman, You are right in saying the NZ 17-digit VIN needs to stay, as does the LVV Certplate. The rest can be removed.
You are also correct about the vehicle needing to be sighted to have the two items removed for painting. If you follow that process, you should have no issues going forward.
