Hi, I'm considering building a sidecar for my 1955 Norton.
Does this need to go through a design approval and what level of certifier would be required for this?
Am I correct in assuming the general principles for things like critical welds etc from the NZ car constructors manual would apply?
Regards, Robin

Regards, Robin Gidday Robin, There is no requirement for a sidecar to go through design approval and they could be certified by a category 2A certifier. General safety requirements would be applied and also assessed for a tradesmanlike design and construction. It would pay to discuss this with a certifier prior to beginning so you can be confident in your design approach and develop a plan for any inspection milestones. Cheers Chris
