Does an auto shifter have to display what gear your in, some of the aftermarket shifters like Lokar and American shifter company dont have any gear display. They just sell shifter boots to cover up the mechanism.

Cheers Chris

This is interesting, because I see many Hotrods on the road and at shows that run automatics but have a shifter that looks like its running a manual, no indication as to what gear there in at all?

Often there are discreet digital outputs in the shifter surround, sometimes they are in the dashboard or integrated into modern gauges that indicate what gear is selected. It is not unusual for people to temporarily modify their vehicles after cert has been completed for car-showing purposes. Some owners also more permanently modify their vehicles after certification and make their vehicle non-compliant.
