I have '63 series 2 landrover that was converted to the 6cyl rover engine (exactly the same engine the 6cyl landrover came with) in the 70s, it has had continuous licensing and WOF,s and never had any declaration or low volume cert, I'm worried that next time I take it for a WOF I'll be told it needs a LVC.

Hi Busman, yes that kind of modification requires LVV certification, if the modification was carried out prior to 1 Jan 1992, a valid modification declaration must be produced. However a vehicle inspector may also accept other authentic evidence to verify the modifications were carried out prior to 1 Jan 1992. Examples of other authentic evidence are an invoice from the company that carried out the modification, insurance policy cover notes or motoring magazine features. The evidence must record the vehicles registration number or VIN, the modification detail and a date or other information verifying when the modifications were carried out. Note - The vehicle must have remained continuously registered since it was modified and documents such as statements from previous owners are not acceptable. The vehicle inspector may ask to make a copy of the evidence to keep with their inspection records. Cheers Chris
