Hello All. With the introduction of the new ABS brake requirements I am looking into how to tackle the possible requirement for a reproduction motorcycle that I am building. The bike was originally designed before 1990 and certainly did not have ABS fitted when it was built. Now that all bikes registered over the 125cc capacity require ABS or CBS how is this to be addressed by the compliance process when there is no systems readily available for fitment as this is technically a new bike.

What is the motorcycle? Is it a scratch-built motorbike (a bike assembled from unrelated components) or has the bike been previously registered, if so, when and was it in New Zealand?

Frame is scratch built, first one from a company overseas all the others will be built here. It is basically a kitset bike that can be built using a donor bike for some of the parts (Not including the frame or body work).

Hiya Combi Scratch-built motorcycles are exempt from requiring ABS but we are unable to certify a modified-production motorcycle as a scratch-built motorcycle to avoid compliance. Cheers Chris
