Looking to replace the tin roof (has sunroof) on my E46 BMW with a carbon item. Will not be touching the pillars or members that span between. The OEM 'bow' would be added as per standard non-sunroof models and the specified OEM adhesives used etc.
Unsure if its relevant but carbon roofs were offered on this chassis from factory on the M3 CSL model.
Is there any certification interest in this ?

Hi, apologies, this one slipped through the net, It is not considered an under threshold modification so it would require certification. However, as there are no LVV requirements that would cover this particular modification, before you start anything, you should provide us with the process for securing the roof insert to the structure of the vehicle, this may need to go to Technical Advisory Committee to consider. Hope that helps.

Thanks Chris, yes that is helpful.
By 'us' does that mean my local certifier or is this dealt with at the centralised level ? What is the process to discuss method / materials etc ?

Maybe send it through to tech@lvvta.org.nz at first, however the certifier is the one who signs it off, we can put it through a sense check in head office first. Cheers
