Hi, I have a road registered RX3 that i've owned for 32 years. Currently undergoing an extensive upgrade & nearing completion. The car will hold an authority card (hydraulic handbrake, seats, harnesses, roll cage) & i will participate in motorsport events. I would like to fit a Bosch M5 ABS system, however the system is sold as 'not for road use'. The ABS system has a number of settings to adjust the level of braking, of which one setting is 'Off' (via cabin switch). Would the ABS system be approved for road use with the provision that it's not activated when used on the road ? The system used is the same as is used in mass produced vehicles, adapted via software for Motorsport use. Thanks, Jeremy

Hey Jeremy, I remember your RX3, [KAOS AD] if I remember it correctly. It's been a long time.
For the ABS, it's not something we have ever certified before or have requirements to cover, so would need a bit more info on so I can take it to Tech Working Group for a better answer. Can you send me some info as to how the system works, where does it get its signal for the brain to know what wheel is locking up, how does it calibrate for different sized master cylinder and calipers, etc. A technical document would be preferred over a sales brochure or a You Tube video. email it to chris@lvvta.org.nz
Cheers
Chris
