Hi,
I'm purchasing a vehicle soon, I've been advised that the previous owner had the passenger airbag removed. It is more than 14 years old (1996). I would prefer to re-install the passenger airbag after purchasing the vehicle.
If I re-install a newly purchased factory airbag for the vehicle, will I need to put the vehicle through LVV Certification again?
Thanks, Tobiah

If I re-install a newly purchased factory airbag for the vehicle, will I need to put the vehicle through LVV Certification again? Thanks, Tobiah The vehicle will need to be taken to a certifier, if the airbag removal was the only above threshold modification, then they will inspect that the airbag has been reinstated correctly and all associated systems work and are present and that there are no above threshold modifications remaining. They will then remove the plate and send it to us with a notification the vehicle has been returned to standard or only has below threshold modifications. If there are above threshold modifications remaining, then they will inspect those to make sure they are still safe and that there are no new modifications since the original cert, then they will apply for a plate reprint, we will provide this to the certifier who will then fit the new plate. Hope that helps. Chris

That helps a bunch, after the airbag is re-installed the car should be back to stock - meaning there will be no above threshold modifications remaining.
Thanks Chris.
