Gidday, I’ve got myself a steel body FJ40 that has been dereg, the body is stuffed but I have found a fibreglass replacement that I was looking at swapping over to, I would like it to be fully fibreglass with cage/exocage, also will be mixing axles, brakes engine and box to modern it up some. I’ve been advised by the local certifier that it may be classed as a scratch built if I swap out the main tub but he wasn’t sure, can I please get clarification on this before I pull the trigger on the new tub. I’ve had a look through the hobby manual but couldn’t find the info I was wanting. Cheers

Cheers Hi BigT Fitting an entirely fibreglass body to an OE chassis would almost certainly make it a scratchbuilt vehicle but we have not reviewed this exact scenario previously through our process, which makes it hard to be 100% certain. The closest comparison we have is a fibreglass 1932 Ford body on an OE chassis, which have classified previously as a scratch built. See top of page 15 in here. If you are determined to keep it as a modified production, there is the opportunity to see a certifier and complete a Statement of Classification document which we would review through our Technical Working Group and give you an official 100% answer in writing.
