Some testing stations/garages are now asking for an LVV cert for 5th wheel hitches on WOF vehicles. I have checked the regulations and cant find anything requiring a towing hitch needing an LVV. Is this a new requirement as it has not been asked for in the past?

Is this a new requirement as it has not been asked for in the past? View AttachmentHi Parcol Tow hitches do not require certification providing all in-service requirements for condition and performance are met and that the attachment to vehicle is not considered to weaken the structure. For reference, heating, drilling, welding or cutting or modifying any part of the vehicle/chassis structure would be considered to weaken it. Cutting a single layer of unstressed panel of sheet metal (i.e. roof) is not considered to weaken the vehicle structure. Hopefully that helps. Chris
